Terms of use
The short version: everything here is free, there is no account and no payment, the astronomy is held to a measurable standard, and the interpretations are tradition rather than advice. The rest of this page is the same thing said carefully.
What this site is
NatalHQ provides free calculators — moon sign, rising sign and life path — together with interpretation pages for each result. There is nothing to buy, nothing to subscribe to, and no account to create. Because there is no transaction, there is nothing to refund and no order to cancel.
What the numbers mean, and what they do not
Two different kinds of claim appear on this site, and it matters that you can tell them apart.
The astronomical part — planetary positions, the Ascendant, sign ingress times, the local clock windows on the rising-sign pages — is computation. We hold it to that standard: the engine is cross-checked against NASA JPL Horizons, and the published ingress and Ascendant tables are verified against an independent routine before they ship. If you find a figure that is wrong, tell us and we will fix it.
The interpretation part — what a Cancer Moon is supposedly like, what a Life Path 7 supposedly means — is astrology and numerology. These are cultural traditions offered for interest. They are not evidence-based, and nothing on this site is medical, psychological, legal or financial advice. Do not use a result here to make a decision you would otherwise take to a doctor, a lawyer or a professional adviser.
Timezones, and the limits of a birth time
A rising sign depends on the exact minute and place of birth. On our own measurements, a one-hour timezone error changes the reported rising sign between 44.8% and 54.0% of the time depending on the city — close to a coin flip. We use historical timezone rules rather than a fixed offset, which is why the calculator asks for a place and not a UTC offset, and why the rising-sign calculator refuses an unknown birth time instead of guessing.
If the birth time or place you enter is wrong, the result will be confidently wrong. That is a limit of the input, not a defect in the site.
Acceptable use
- Use the calculators as much as you like, for yourself or for anyone whose details you are entitled to enter.
- Do not scrape the site, run automated bulk queries against the calculators or the places endpoint, or otherwise put load on it beyond ordinary reading.
- Do not republish the computed tables — the ingress dates, the Ascendant windows, the life-path frequency figures — as your own work. Quote them with a link and we have no objection at all.
- Do not attempt to disrupt, probe or reverse-engineer the service.
Content and credits
The written interpretations, the computed tables and the page designs are ours. Astronomical calculation uses the Swiss Ephemeris. Place and timezone data comes from GeoNames, licensed under CC BY 4.0, and is stored on our own server.
